KTM Delays 1390 Super Duke GT
KTM has announced changes to its production timeline for the next-generation Street and Adventure lineup. CEO Gottfried Neumeister emphasized that while excitement has been strong since the lineup was first introduced at EICMA, KTM is prioritizing readiness to ensure that performance and innovation meet expectations.
Revised Model Launch Schedule
As part of the revised schedule, several models will now shift from the 2025 model year to 2026, with production start dates as follows:
- KTM 990 RC R – October 2025
- KTM 1390 Super Adventure S – October 2025
- KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO – October 2025
- KTM 1390 Super Adventure R – October 2025
- KTM 990 Duke R – November 2025
- KTM 1390 Super Duke GT – delayed until 2027
Neumeister explained that the decision ensures each bike fully delivers on KTM’s standards, with the first models expected on the market in late 2025 and early 2026.
A Longer Wait for the 1390 Super Duke GT
The delay is especially notable for the 1390 Super Duke GT, which KTM had introduced in late 2024 as the most extreme sport-touring machine in its class. Promoted as a long-distance “Beast” with adrenaline at its core, the GT was set to bring a host of upgrades, including the latest 1350 cc LC8 V-twin, revised gearing, a new chassis with WP APEX Semi Active Technology suspension, advanced rider aids, and an 8.8-inch TFT touchscreen with enhanced connectivity and radar-based features like Adaptive Cruise Control. KTM positioned it as both a refined long-haul companion and a motorcycle with serious track ambitions.
While riders will now have to wait until 2027 for the GT, KTM underscored its commitment to quality and rider experience. To bolster confidence, the company is offering a complimentary 4-Year Premium Manufacturer’s Warranty on all new 2023–2026 LC8 and LC8c Street and Adventure models, doubling coverage from the standard two years.
Of the models listed, the 1390 Super Duke GT is the one that resonates most with sport-touring riders. With its mix of long-distance comfort and track-ready aggression, it promises plenty of appeal, though its hard-edged character may not be every rider’s first choice.
KTM Emerging from Reorganization
The production delay also comes against the backdrop of KTM’s recent reorganization, where company leaders cited ongoing discussions with creditors and banks, a search for new investors, and “uncertainty and sacrifices” for employees.
