BMW Adds Color and Package Updates for the S 1000 XR
BMW Motorrad has announced a series of 2026 model-year updates across its lineup, with the most relevant news for sport touring riders centered on the S 1000 XR.
The update is modest rather than mechanical. For 2026, the S 1000 XR’s Style Sport version receives a new Sage Green metallic color scheme, while Gravity Blue metallic is no longer available. BMW also adds a USB charging port to the optional Dynamic Package.
For riders considering BMW’s high-performance sport touring platform, the changes add a little more convenience and a fresh visual option to an already well-equipped machine. The S 1000 XR remains BMW’s four-cylinder sport crossover, combining upright ergonomics, long-distance capability, and superbike-derived performance. BMW lists the 2026 S 1000 XR at $18,825 base MSRP, with the model producing a claimed 170 hp from its 999 cc inline-four engine.

The Dynamic Package is particularly relevant because it supports the XR’s dual-purpose mission: fast road work and longer-distance riding. BMW describes the package as including Dynamic ESA Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and cruise control. The newly included USB charging port should be a small but useful addition for riders who depend on phone-based navigation, communication, or other powered accessories on longer trips.
BMW also continues to offer touring-focused equipment for the S 1000 XR, including a Touring Package with luggage carrier, center stand, navigation-device preparation, hand protection, tire pressure monitoring, and heated grips. For riders leaning toward a more performance-focused build, the M Package and related M components remain available.
The broader 2026 model update also includes new colors and equipment changes for models such as the R 1300 GS, R 1300 GS Adventure, F 900 GS, C 400 GT, and C 400 X. But for sport touring buyers, the S 1000 XR update is the one most worth noting: not a major redesign, but a useful refinement for riders already cross-shopping BMW’s fast, long-distance-capable sport machine.
