Honda’s flagship touring motorcycle continues with its 1,833cc six-cylinder engine, available automatic transmission, advanced suspension, and extensive long-distance amenities.

Honda has confirmed the return of its Gold Wing lineup for 2027, continuing more than five decades of development in premium motorcycle touring. Available in five configurations, the Gold Wing combines its signature six-cylinder engine with sophisticated chassis technology, rider conveniences, and accommodations designed for extended travel.

Rather than introducing a major redesign, Honda is carrying forward a proven platform that serves a range of touring preferences, from riders who favor a streamlined bagger-style motorcycle to those seeking fully equipped two-up touring comfort.

Prices begin at $25,700 for the standard Gold Wing and reach $34,000 for the top-of-the-line Tour Airbag Automatic DCT.

Six-Cylinder Performance

The Gold Wing is powered by a liquid-cooled, 1,833cc horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine featuring Honda’s Unicam valvetrain, four valves per cylinder, and electronic fuel injection. The flat-six configuration contributes to smooth power delivery, minimal vibration, and a low center of gravity that helps manage the motorcycle’s substantial weight.

Honda offers two transmission choices: a conventional six-speed manual with an assist/slipper clutch or a seven-speed automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Both deliver power to the rear wheel through a shaft drive system.

DCT uses two electronically controlled clutches to provide automatic gear changes without requiring the rider to operate a clutch lever or shift pedal. The system can also be shifted manually using handlebar controls.

An especially useful feature on DCT-equipped models is Walking Mode, which allows the motorcycle to move forward at approximately 1.1 mph or backward at 0.75 mph using handlebar switches. Manual-transmission versions also provide a powered reverse function, helping riders maneuver the heavyweight machine in parking areas.

Advanced Chassis and Electronic Suspension

Despite its considerable size, the Gold Wing is engineered to deliver responsive handling alongside highway stability.

An aluminum twin-spar frame supports Honda’s distinctive double-wishbone front suspension, paired with a Pro-Link rear suspension and Showa shock absorbers. This arrangement separates steering and suspension movement to help reduce road impacts transmitted through the handlebars.

The three Tour versions feature electronically adjustable suspension damping linked to the selected riding mode, along with four rear preload settings to accommodate different combinations of rider, passenger, and luggage. Standard Gold Wing models use manual rear preload adjustment.

Curb weight ranges from 806 pounds for the standard Gold Wing to 856 pounds for the Tour Airbag Automatic DCT, including required fluids and a full fuel tank. A 29.3-inch seat height, 66.9-inch wheelbase, and 5.5-gallon fuel capacity are shared across the lineup.

Braking equipment includes dual 320mm front discs with six-piston Nissin calipers and a 316mm rear disc, managed by electronically controlled combined ABS.

Electronic Rider Assistance and Connectivity

The Gold Wing provides four selectable riding modes—TOUR, SPORT, ECON, and RAIN—that adjust throttle response, power delivery, and other electronic settings to suit riding conditions.

Honda Selectable Torque Control helps manage rear-wheel traction, while Hill Start Assist prevents the motorcycle from rolling backward momentarily when starting on an incline. Electronic cruise control maintains a selected speed during extended highway travel.

A seven-inch TFT display sits between analog speedometer and tachometer gauges, with additional information covering tire pressure, fuel level, range, and vehicle settings.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow riders to access compatible navigation, music, communication, and smartphone applications. The motorcycle also includes a Smart Key system, and the integrated audio system features 45-watt speakers, with four speakers on Tour models and two on standard versions.

Touring Comfort and Passenger Accommodations

The Gold Wing’s touring-focused design incorporates an electrically adjustable windscreen, carefully managed airflow, and a supportive two-piece seat.

All five versions include heated grips, while the Tour models add heated seats and a taller windscreen for improved long-distance comfort.

Luggage capacity is a major distinction between the standard and Tour configurations. Standard Gold Wing models feature two 30-liter side cases, while Tour versions add a 61-liter rear trunk, bringing total enclosed storage to 121 liters. Honda says the trunk can accommodate two XXL helmets, even when equipped with communication headsets.

Passenger accommodations are also a priority, particularly on Tour versions, which feature a substantial rear backrest and seating designed to support extended two-up travel.

Honda offers more than 40 accessories for the Gold Wing platform, allowing owners to customize comfort, luggage, and other touring equipment.

Five Models Choices

The 2027 Gold Wing lineup includes five configurations, with the principal differences involving transmission choice, luggage, touring equipment, and the availability of Honda’s integrated rider airbag system.

ModelMSRP
Gold Wing$25,700
Gold Wing Automatic DCT$26,700
Gold Wing Tour$29,700
Gold Wing Tour Automatic DCT$30,700
Gold Wing Tour Airbag Automatic DCT$34,000

The optional airbag system, exclusive to the highest-specification Tour model, is designed to help reduce the rider’s forward momentum in certain frontal collisions.

For 2027, standard Gold Wing models are offered in Metallic Black. Gold Wing Tour and Tour Automatic DCT versions are available in Ignition Blue, Black, and Gray Metallic, while the Tour Airbag Automatic DCT comes in Gray Metallic.

Honda expects the Tour models to reach U.S. dealerships in October 2026, followed by the standard Gold Wing versions in November.

A Continuing Benchmark for Long-Distance Touring

The Gold Wing remains distinctive in a touring market populated by large V-twins, adventure touring motorcycles, and increasingly sophisticated sport tourers. Its smooth six-cylinder engine, road-focused chassis, and extensive comfort features reflect a design philosophy centered on covering long distances with minimal effort.

For riders who prioritize passenger accommodations, highway refinement, and integrated touring equipment, the 2027 Gold Wing continues to offer a compelling alternative to more traditional heavyweight touring motorcycles.
