Shoei Announces RF-SR2 Helmet

Shoei announced the RF-SR2 on July 29, 2026, as the replacement for the long-running RF-SR. The updated full-face street helmet combines a relatively straightforward feature set with improvements to ventilation, aerodynamics, comfort, and communications integration.

Positioned below Shoei’s more feature-intensive touring helmets, the RF-SR2 uses the company’s AIM+ composite shell and weighs a claimed 3.49 pounds. Shoei says its compact shape was developed to reduce drag and lift, while a redesigned rear exhaust provides an 82 percent improvement in aerodynamic performance compared with the previous design.

Ventilation has also been revised. A larger lower intake delivers a claimed 43 percent increase in airflow, while the redesigned upper intake provides 21 percent more airflow across the top of the helmet. The lower vent now includes a half-open setting, giving riders more control as temperatures or speeds change.

The RF-SR2 retains Shoei’s CWR-1 shield system, giving owners access to an established selection of replacement shields. A Pinlock EVO anti-fog insert is included, and Shoei says the shield blocks 99 percent of ultraviolet rays.

Inside, the helmet has a removable and washable liner with interchangeable pad thicknesses and compatibility with Shoei’s Personal Fitting System. Dedicated speaker pockets and microphone routing accommodate Bluetooth and mesh communication systems without requiring a specially shaped communications compartment. An Emergency Quick Release System allows trained responders to remove the cheek pads before taking off the helmet.

The RF-SR2 meets Snell M2025D requirements and exceeds the federal DOT FMVSS 218 standard. It is offered in six solid colors, including black, white, matte blue metallic, matte deep gray, and Basalt Gray. The suggested retail price is $499.99.

For sport touring riders, the RF-SR2 is notable as a conventional full-face option that addresses several practical long-distance considerations: stable aerodynamics, adjustable ventilation, anti-fog capability, a washable interior, and accommodation for helmet communications. It does not include the internal sun shield or integrated communications architecture found in some touring-focused models, but its lighter, less complicated design may appeal to riders who prefer a traditional full-face helmet.
