Mosko Moto Pinner Tool Roll Review
Few things in life are as enjoyable as a sport touring ride—long stretches of scenic byway mixed with heart-pounding twists and turns. But sometimes, fate throws an unexpected twist our way, and we find ourselves the victim of a roadside breakdown. In an earlier article, we covered How to Build a Roadside Toolkit for Sport Touring to deal with just such a frustration. In this article, we review the Pinner Tool Roll from Mosko Moto, a solid option to pack essential tools while using as little valuable luggage space as possible.
Why a Tool Roll?
Anyone who has packed for a sport touring ride knows that luggage space is scarce, and with every additional item, the question arises: Do I really need this? When it comes to tools, the answer is certainly yes. So the next question is: How do you pack essential tools? The ones described in the article mentioned earlier, while taking up the least space possible.

Tool rolls solve this packing problem with three key features:
Soft-Sided Design – Compacts and folds easily, ensuring no wasted space. The roll itself only takes up as much room as necessary. In addition, tool rolls are easy on motorcycle bodywork and other packed items.
Tools and Small Parts Stay Organized – Tools stay securely in their sleeve, while zippered pockets keep small tools and parts from getting lost.
Easy Access and Convenience – When opened, tools are readily accessible, and the unfolded tool roll provides a clean roadside surface to lay out parts.
The Pinner Tool Roll from Mosko Moto
The Mosko Moto Pinner Tool Roll is a well-constructed and compact tool storage solution designed with adventure and sport touring riders in mind. Built from rugged 1680D ballistic nylon, it feels substantial and durable while maintaining a manageable size.
Dimensions
Unrolled – The Pinner lays out to a relatively small 18-inch by 9.5-inch rectangle.

Rolled Thickness – Instead of rolling into a traditional cylindrical shape, the Pinner folds into a compact tri-fold design. Once closed, it measures approximately 8.25 inches by 9 inches and about 1.5 inches thick before any tools are packed inside. Fully packed with essential tools, it stretches to nearly 3 inches thick, roughly the size of a 9x7x3-inch box. Size is less of an issue when the Pinner is strapped to a tail rack.
Internal Pockets
8 Tool Slots – Designed for an assortment of relatively flat and narrow tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers.
Zippered Mesh Pocket – Located on the inner tool cover, this pocket is ideal for small parts and spares like fuses and extra fairing fasteners.
Elastic Loops – Sewn into the seams, these loops are useful for securing odd-shaped tools like a set of small tire irons.
Zippered Pockets – Constructed with the same heavy-duty 1680D nylon, these pockets are ideal for storing odd-shaped tools like Allen wrenches and sockets.
Built-In Reference Tables
Mosko Moto made use of all the space inside the Pinner Tool Roll with handy reference tables printed on the inside cover.
Conversions – Provides formulas to convert length, volume, and weight from imperial to metric and vice versa.
Measurements – A 5.5-inch ruler may come in handy when looking for screws or bolts to match a broken part.
External Features
MOLLE Panel – A three-loop MOLLE panel on the outside is primarily useful for securing the tool roll to the bike but might also hold smaller items.
Voile Strap – An 18-inch Voile strap is included to securely close the tool roll and attach it to the bike.
Weather Protection
Durable Material – The Pinner’s high-density 1680D nylon construction is perhaps its strongest and most striking feature. This tool roll is built to take scuffs and scrapes.

Rain Cover – A marine-quality polyvinyl envelope-style rain cover comes with the Pinner. In addition to keeping everything dry in a rainstorm, it doubles as a work surface during roadside repairs.
What We Liked
Excellent Build Quality – The 1680D ballistic nylon gives it a premium and durable feel, built to last through years of use.
Well-Organized Layout – Tools stay secure, and the multiple compartments allow efficient storage.
Expandable Design – The Velcro closure system allows flexibility in packing larger or smaller tool kits.
Versatile Mounting Options – The MOLLE panel and included strap make it easy to secure externally if luggage space is tight.
Weather Protection – The included rain cover is an important accessory should it become necessary to carry the Pinner on the tail rack.
What Could Be Better
Larger Outside Than Expected – When fully loaded, the Pinner Tool Roll takes up more luggage space than expected due to its tri-fold design and heavy-duty materials. Many users will choose to carry it on the tail rack instead.
Smaller Inside Than Expected – The Pinner comfortably holds essential tools, straps, and spares for a complete sport touring roadside repair kit—but not much more. The stiff pockets and sleeves do not stretch to accommodate extra tools. We had hoped to consolidate all our tools, including a tire repair kit, into this one neat package. No such luck.
The Bottom Line
The Pinner Tool Roll from Mosko Moto has a luxurious feel that belies its ruggedness. This premium-quality, well-crafted tool roll looks like it was made for show rather than hard use. But that would be the wrong impression. While it takes up more space than lighter tool rolls, the Pinner provides enough interior space for essential tools. Its rugged durability ensures it can ride along on the tail rack without complaint.

However, it might not suit every rider. The Pinner is not the best fit for those who prioritize compact packing, need space for a tire repair kit, or require room for larger tools.
The Mosko Moto Pinner Tool Roll is available directly from the Mosko Moto website for $100 (at the time this article was published). Mosko Moto also provides a limited lifetime warranty on all their products.
